Love and Chains is a concert that explores the deep bonds and deep binds that come with Love. Experience the world premiere of an original chamber Opera, Euridice’s Defiance composed by our very own, David Ryther. Inspired by the Greek myth of Orpheus and Euridice, this work in progress tells the story of a mother, Euridice being detained at a border crossing and separated from her son, Orpheus, while she pleads with her gaurd to reunite them. The ground-breaking libretto, written by novelist Kimiko Guthrie is set to a haunting score by Ryther.
We will also present Preludes by Claude Debussy arranged for string quartet, Anton Webern’s romantic opus Langsamer Satz, and two works by Iranian born composer Sahba Aminikia, One Day; Tehran and Weight of the World which are profound meditations on geopolitical struggles that are born from the love of our common humanity.
